Wildlife Conservation and Management
Our faculty dig into the life histories of mammals, birds, and other organisms to understand how environmental changes and human development affect wildlife populations. The resulting research is used by wildlife managers and scientists to identify what influences survival and productivity of species and to develop strategies for maintaining species diversity, conserving and recovering endangered species, and managing populations of game species. Examples of specific projects include assessing the impact of human activity on Sonoran pronghorn, determining how invasive non-native grasses affect populations of desert tortoises, and quantifying how urbanization drives changes in the diversity and behavior of wild birds.
